The Australian Institute of Architects announces its inaugural Architecture In Residence Program, known as the Australian Institute of Architects Droga Architect in Residence (The Residency).
The Residency will be awarded to architects who represent the highest standard of excellence in architectural design, research and practice, and who are not resident in Australia.
Architecture is fundamental to Australian culture and to our cultural identity. The Australian Institute of Architects Droga Architect in Residence aligns with the Institute’s vision, which centres on this belief and on our commitment to advocacy for architecture and its value to Australian society.
The successful applicant will be flown to and from Australia, including airport transfers, provided with a stipend, and accommodated in an award-winning Penthouse apartment with stunning outlooks across inner Sydney.
The Australian Institute of Architects invites applications from prominent Architects based outside Australia who can contribute to this aim, and while utilizing the opportunity to pursue their own area of interest, are expected to engage with the Australian architectural community through a series of seminars and related events, relevant to the applicant’s oeuvre.
It is anticipated that each residency will be for approximately 2-3 months. However the timing and duration of the residency is flexible and can be negotiated with the host organization.
