“Architecture has the capacity for direct and positive impact on the future of our cities and spaces and should be nurtured through philanthropy, as are other arts sectors.”
Edmund Capon, Foundation Chairman
The Foundation is a not-for-profit national body committed to fostering and promoting the art and creativity of architecture for the benefit of the Australian community.
Through philanthropy and artistic vision we aim to take the domain of architecture to the Australian public as well as enhancing and promoting the image of Australian architecture around the world.
The Foundation is about education, awareness and appreciation and involvement. Our focus will be to garner philanthropic support to develop a suite of programs that will inspire new ideas, promote international collaborations and exchanges, nurture new talent and see architecture appreciated as a living, practical art form.
Our structure will be built around a suite of programs that include:
- an architect in residency program
- a scholarship, prize or bursary program
- a travelling (Biennale architecture) exhibition program
- an architecture and design exhibition space
- related public programs and events
The Foundation’s inaugural program, the Droga Architect in Residence, launched in March 2014, is the first of its kind in Australia. The residency programs aims to promote architecture and design through a curated program that serves as a forum for contemporary issues in architecture, urbanism and design.
